In 1969 Zager and Evans recorded a thought provoking song, “In The Year 2525!” A commentary on the movement of society, it raised questions in the minds of us who were old enough at the time about our future. A song could be penned today, “In The Year 2017” that could once again raise questions about our more immediate and long-term future.
What are the indicators in our country, in our society, that could be signs of the eventual destruction of what we have known? These indicators, or “triggers,” could be the foundation for the ultimate survival decision we have to make as individuals.
We have become a society of political correctness, entitlement, tribal loyalties over loyalty to our country, racial and ethnic loyalties before loyalty to our country, technology seen as the savior of our world, science as the new religion, intolerance, hatred, self-centeredness, the fracturing of the traditional family, intolerance for any thought or speech that is different than our own, secularization, bio-engineering, men and women seeing themselves as their own gods, a breakdown of traditional religious values, corruption, fear, and countless other things. What I have mentioned just now, in my opinion, are the most obvious and dangerous trends seen today.
As the influence and impact of the above grow, as they are mixed together into our new life experience, each of us must make an important decision. Will we succumb to these things or will we hold on to our traditional life? If we choose to hold on to that traditional life in a very short time we will find ourselves in a small minority in the country. It is inevitable that persecution will follow such a decision. We will be outcasts in our own families, towns, states, and across the country.
You and I must be prepared for those times. In fact we must anticipate the ultimate breakdown of what we hold true and sacred. When we see the signs that hope for a return to what built our country is no longer possible, we must choose. We must choose to survive! It will be necessary to build our own future, somewhere, as far away from the fractured society as possible.
It will take courage to turn our backs on our world. It will take preparation, it will take hard work, and it will mean we face an unknown future accepting that we must build our meaningful future alone. It is not rocket science to see the changes that are taking place in our society. So, I urge you to think long and hard on when you will make your decision on surviving. Don’t surrender to the accepted new norms. Build your own life. Write your own song, “In The Year 2017!” Choose to Survive!
